In Singapore, SBS transit is no doubt the leader in bus service. It's coverage is wide and allow us to travel from place to place with reasonable bus fare. I acknowledge that it also provide comfortable ride, however after witnessing an incident this afternoon, it causes me to question the quality of bus transport service in Singapore, especially the attitude of the bus drivers.

This afternoon, about 1.35 pm. I was waiting for bus service 185 to school. I saw a bunch of NTU students waiting for bus service 179 which would bring them to the campus. Then I saw a NTU student trying to get the attention of the driver of 179 and his action caught my attention. However, the bus didn't stop and pick up the students. The same thing occurs again with the second 179, until the third 179 the student then got to board the bus. Is this what a bus driver should do? Did he/she ever consider the consequences of doing so? What if the students are having exam on that day? Some people might says the student should wait for the bus at earlier timing so that they would be punctual. However, I believe that the students have trust in the SBS transit, its quality of service that the bus would bring them to their school on time to have their exam.

While some of the bus drivers do so, I also have seen other bus drivers who are more professional, who will smile, who will patiently wait for the elder passenger to get a seat before they start to move. I hope that all the bus drivers will take that as a good example.
